Penny lasted only a few warmup pitches in the top of the fourth inning before leaving.

Cardinals pitcher Brad Penny was put on the 15-day disabled list Saturday with a strain his upper back, although the team believes it's a minor injury. St. Louis General Manager John Mozeliak said Penny received an injection and could pitch again in as soon as 10 days, meaning he'd miss one turn in the rotation.
